Half fare for students in public buses will be implemented from December 11 in Chattogram city.

Khondkar Enayet Ullah, secretary general of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association, made the announced in a press conference at Chattogram Press Club on Sunday.

“The half fare in public buses will be effective for students only in metropolitan area in Chattogram from 7am to 8pm every day except for public holidays,” he said.

The students will have to carry identity cards of their educational institutions and be in uniform, he added.

Mentioning that the decision was taken respecting the demand of the students, he hoped that the the students will return to the educational institution now.

Demanding half bus fares in Chittagong, students from various educational institutions were seen staging demonstrations for the last few days, expressing solidarity with the students of Dhaka.
